and Evan Monson is a pseudonym – meaning a fake name. No, I don’t think that using a fake name in writing about my life as a gay man is a step backward.

Okay, maybe a little.

But it is a necessary step in what I see as an attempt to move forward. I don’t want perceptions of others getting in the way of me living my life. I don’t want to be attached to the chicken crossing the road, nor do I want to be stuck in the coop waiting for something to happen.
